Where will my children's children and their children park their Gulfstream jet.

The politicians and their bureaucrat masters once again have shown no long term planning ability.
They are all failed flops - that is why they work in Public Servant hideaway departments.

Sydney, as Australia's biggets city, needs more airports, not less.
The fact a bank seescan a way of making a dollar is really no reason to give them whatever they want.

Like many others, I learnt to fly at Hoxton Park.

It's closure is a great shame.

Hoxton Park Aerodrome has taught countless numbers of people to fly, many of whom have gone on to very rewarding careers in aviation.

This is a great loss and very sad day for GA.

As the daughter of Laurie and Paulette McIver, who set up McIver Aviation at Hoxton Park over 30 years ago, I am devastated that the government has allowed the closure of the airport to go ahead. With the closure and certain re-development, they are erasing not only the memories I have of my late father and his passion for the flying school and the airport, but also an entire community of pilots that share this same passion.

Having returned to Australia after twenty years overseas, I was driving around looking for airfields, stumbled on Hoxton Park, went in and said "Can I rent a plane" Well I didn't have an Aussie licence but flew dual with an instructor who has since become a good friend.
Some years later I was flying back to Camden brain in neutral when the engine quit. Looked out and what was there for me but good old Hoxton.
Guess I'd smash up a few houses if it happens again.
The biggest city in Australia will now have only two GA airfields. It's a sad day.

I earned my wings at Hoxton and whilst I now have a hangar/fly out of Bankstown, I still think it is a shame to lose this airfield.

Sydney should have more G.A airfields than Brisbane and Melbourne, but alas we don’t and we all know who is at fault here.

The loss of Hoxton Park as a GA airport in the Sydney Basin seems very shortsighted. Just as new technologies, like carbon fibre composites, and the rapidly expanding LSA and kitbuilt groups provide a major resurgence to the light aircraft industry for business, private, recreational and training uses in Australia and around the world, heralding a growing need for such facilities, this facility is taken away...... for what just seems like short term gain.

Melbourne has 4 Airports to service 3.5 Million people .... Brisbane has 12 Airports to service 1.5 Miliion people .... Sydney has / HAD 4 Airports - to service 4.5 MILLION ... and our short sighted, irresponsible, unaccountable politicians have let one get sold off & closed ... this is a travesty of justice to the populous at large !

It didn't even matter that Hoxton Park was HERITAGE LISTED ! ... ( just goes to show how two faced our politicians are ..... YOU go and buy a Hertiage listed property & then try & tell the government that you are going to "change it" in ANY way & see how far you get !!!
( not to mention the shortage we are now experiencing with professional pilots and air traffic controllers .... that's what happens when you take away "aviation breeding grounds" - like Hoxton Park Airport ... which BTW - was THE busiest non-contrlled airport in the whole of Australia ! )

So COME ALONG on the 19th of October & spend the day talking, watching all things aviation - ( we are expecting a HUGE rollup - so MAKE AN EFFORT to BE THERE ! ) & tell the media ( who we also plan to have there ) exactly what you think about this appalling state of affairs !
